Head Of BNPB Promises Residents Affected By Abrasion South Minahasa, North Sulawesi To Prepare Relocation Land

JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto said residents affected by the abrasion phenomenon in South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, will prepare land for residential relocation.

Suharyanto said as many as 133 families were affected, and dozens of houses were lost due to natural phenomena that had an impact on abrasion on Wednesday (15/6).

"The data collection will be carried out, later the people whose houses are lost will be moved, and the land will be prepared by the ATR/BPN ministry, later in collaboration with the Regent to find a new place," said Suharyanto, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 18.

Suharyanto said based on field observations, the conditions were not yet safe enough to be re-inhabited.

On Tuesday (21/6), the Head of BNPB said his party would discuss further with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) regarding the handling of the disaster.

Within two weeks after the emergency response status was established, the handling of refugees will be carried out, data collection on houses that must be relocated and must be rebuilt, only to the pre-rehabilitation stage.

"The relocation must be fast, that's why the Regent continues to coordinate with the Ministry of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing) so that a clean and clear relocation location is determined, there are no disputes, there are no legal problems and the land is state land, given to the affected people," he said. Suharyanto.

In addition, Suharyanto provided an emergency response fund of Rp. 500 million, as well as logistical assistance which was directly handed over to the emergency post, through the Regent of South Minahasa, Franky Donny Wongkar.

Suharyanto also said that the natural phenomena impacting coastal abrasion needed further studies by experts, BMKG and PUPR to find out the cause. In addition, he said that technically, there should be no dwellings located 100 meters from the shoreline.
