Sukabumi Police Arrest Suspect Of Persecution Of Journalists While Covering At Palabuhanratu Hospital

SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi Police Team arrested two young men suspected of molesting the journalist of the Sukabumi Journal, Ilham Nugraha, while reporting at the Palabuhanratu Hospital, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"After carrying out the persecution, two suspects with the initials D and B had time to hide and plan to run away, but we appreciate the team from the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim who quickly managed to uncover this case," said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Dedy Dharmawansyah quoted by Antara, Friday, June 17.

According to information gathered from the police, the motive for the two suspects to abuse Ilham Nugraha was because they did not accept his family who was in a disaster as a result of falling from the Cimandiri Bridge and falling into the Cimandiri River, Palabuhanratu District, Sukabumi Regency.

There was also the role of suspect D, namely pulling, pushing, and hitting the victim's head, while suspect B hit Ilham's back. The articles imposed on the two suspects are Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution.

According to Dedy, until now his party is still developing a case of abuse against the journalist and if new evidence is found, it is possible that there are other suspects. However, there are only two suspects in this case.

Sukabumi Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP I Putu Asti Hermawan added that the two suspects had tried to escape and hide somewhere, but the whereabouts of the two suspects were smelled after being lured from their hiding places by an informant.

"Suspect D is the main perpetrator of the persecution, which is then assisted by suspect B. From the suspect's confession, B is the father-in-law of suspect D. We arrested both of them in their respective homes after being lured out of their hiding places," he said.
