Adinegoro 2024 Journalism Award: Appreciation For Qualityy Works In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, appreciated the enthusiasm of the media and journalists who participated in the 2024 Adinegoro Journalistic Award (AJA). This competition is the highest symbol of appreciation for quality journalistic work in Indonesia.

"There are still seven days to register the best work through the official website http://s.id/ADINEGORO2024. This competition is open to all Indonesian journalists," said Hendry Ch Bangun in Jakarta, Thursday, December 26.

Please note, the Adinegoro Journalism Award was first held in 1974. This year, the event reached its golden age, marking its 50th anniversary of its journey. In this special momentum, AJA 2024 offers the greatest prize in history. Winners of each category, namely print media, online, television, radio, and photos, will receive Rp 100 million.

"This great prize is expected to spur journalists to produce high-quality journalistic works," said Hendry.

In the midst of the heavy flow of information on social media, quality journalistic works are often eliminated. Hendry acknowledged this big challenge, especially with the decline in print media readers and changes in media consumption patterns among Gen Z.

"The media business is disrupted, but awards for journalistic works must still be given," he stressed. Therefore, AJA 2024 focuses on the category of investigation and collaboration, respecting media efforts in creating in-depth and innovative reports.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the 2024 AJA Committee, Artini, emphasized the importance of collaboration between large and small media. The joint coverage project, according to him, will produce high-quality journalistic works.

"We invite all media, both large and small, to participate. This collaborative cover will add value to the resulting journalistic work," said Artini.

The committee's visit to a number of editors also shows the enthusiasm to continue producing quality journalistic works amid various challenges in the media industry.

Another privilege of AJA 2024 is the involvement of the press on campus and citizen journalism. This category offers a prize of IDR 25 million per winner, as a form of appreciation for their contribution to producing impactful journalistic works.

"We invite students and the public to participate in this competition," added Artini.

As a form of additional award, AJA 2024 in collaboration with the LSPR Institute provides Masters scholarships to the five best winners. This step is expected to be able to encourage the professionalism of journalists as well as increase competence in the field of journalism.
