Criticized By Fellow Cadres And May Become A Candidate From Other Parties, Ganjar Pranowo Doesn't Move Even Though 29 Nasdem DPW Proposes Him To Be A Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo thanked the NasDem Party DPW for choosing him as a presidential candidate ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election. However, he emphasized that he was a PDI-P cadre.

A total of 29 DPWs of the NasDem Party proposed the name of Ganjar as a presidential candidate in the NasDem National Working Meeting at the JCC Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday, June 16. In addition, the names of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa also appeared.

"Thank you for getting the honor, but I'm the PDI-P," said Ganjar to reporters at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Thursday, June 16.

Ganjar emphasized his commitment to a party with the symbol of a bull. Even though there will be another party that will carry him, he will not budge from PDIP.

"What proposals, for a marriage? My party is the PDI-P, my headquarters is the PDI-P," said the former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"I am a PDIP cadre," added Ganjar.

Similarly, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto believes Ganjar will be committed to the party. He is believed to be going straight in the direction of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"Mr. Ganjar asserted that he is the PDI-P, upholding party discipline and relating to presidential and vice-presidential candidates is the authority of the general chairman," Hasto told reporters.

Furthermore, Hasto did not want to interfere in the affairs of other parties, including when Ganjar's name appeared as a presidential candidate for the NasDem Party.

However, he reminded each political party should galvanize its own cadres. This is what PDIP has always done.

"Of course, we don't interfere with other party's households. We just have the principle that being a political party it is our duty to prepare cadres of leaders who are trained from party members," he said.

"That's why the National Working Meeting of Struggle will be held at the party school as a reminder that leadership is born through the party school process and then the assignment of party cadres," concluded Hasto.
