JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) continues to minimize the presence of brokers or syndicates that illegally distribute Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). Optimizing prevention, BP2MI cooperates with 16 local governments (Pemda) and five educational institutions.

In addition, he continued, the collaboration includes the implementation of education, skills training, placement facilitation, socialization and coordination regarding the placement, and protection of Indonesian workers (TKI).

He said efforts to prevent illegal placement of PMIs were carried out to ensure the protection of Indonesian citizens who went to work abroad and these efforts needed to be carried out from the site level.

"The provision of education, training and skills for migrant workers is mandatory," he added.
