Repeatedly The Reshuffle Issue Is Announced, Jokowi Starts To Get Angry With His Cabinet?

JAKARTA - It is rumored that the cabinet reshuffle will take place today, Wednesday, June 15, 2022. The issue of a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday's auspicious day has repeatedly appeared in public spaces, but in the end it always gets canceled.

The news that President Joko Widodo will carry out a reshuffle often raises the question, is there a fight at the palace? Or the change of cabinet ministers today to determine the direction of the 2024 presidential election coalition?

Political observer from Indonesia's Al Azhar University Andriadi Achmad assessed that President Jokowi may have started to feel stifled by the 'composition' in his cabinet this time. So it needs a refresher by doing a reshuffle.

Moreover, recently, Jokowi has always been teasing ministers who are 'hobby' for imports to the point of being angry at calling them 'stupid'. Not to mention, many ministers are maneuvering politically for the presidential election (Pilpres).

"Cabinet reshuffle is actually the president's prerogative, but it cannot be denied that cabinet reshuffles are often associated with developing political dynamics, including due to maneuvers," Andriadi told VOI, Tuesday, June 14.

One of these maneuvers is the safari or political conversation of the general chairperson of a political party who is actually the ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. For example, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, who is also the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

Then, PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa who is the Minister of PPN/Bappenas, and General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto who is also the Minister of Defense. As well as other political party functionaries such as Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees Sandiaga Uno as Menparekraf, or non-political parties such as Erick Thohir as Minister of BUMN.

"As we know now, the Golkar Party, PPP, and PAN have declared the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). Likewise, the issue of the Red Ant coalition or the central axis of volume 2 PKB-PKS. The meeting of Prabowo and Surya Paloh, or Surya Paloh with SBY. Likewise, Jokowi's closeness to Ganjar or Prabowo's closeness to Megawati," he explained.

According to the Executive Director of the Nusantara Institute PolCom SRC, the gathering or political friendship aside from discussing the condition of the nation and state, there must be a desire for each political party to unite in a coalition towards the interests and victory of the 2024 presidential election.

"Everyone is measuring and exploring the same opportunities and interests for the 2024 presidential election," he said.

It could be, added Andriadi, that there are indications that the palace or "Jokowi and PDIP" feel hot and disturbed by the political maneuvers of political party functionaries who incidentally are ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

"In a sense, it could be due to the political maneuvering that there will be a cabinet refresh or reshuffle," he concluded.
