SAMPANG - Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sampang Regency, Asroni, stated that 37 bridges were damaged due to natural disasters that hit the area.

"The data on bridge damage due to natural disasters is based on the latest data collection results, as well as reports from village officials," he said in Sampang, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 13.

Therefore, continued Asroni, the Sampang Regency Government proposed assistance to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for immediate repairs.

According to him, of the 37 damaged bridges, two of them are very priority to be repaired immediately, because they are the main connecting route between the sub-districts, namely Kedungdung District and Tambelangan District.

"The Sampang Regency Government BPBD has actually coordinated with the Sampang Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (DPUPR), however, the agency cannot immediately make repairs, because the budget is very limited," he said.

Therefore, he continued, his party immediately applied for assistance to the central government, namely BNPB.

"We hope that the center can pay attention to this, because the funds available in the regions are very limited. Even if we have to use the regional budget, it will take a very long time," he said, explaining.

In addition to damaged bridges, other infrastructure damage that also occurred in Sampang Regency due to natural disasters in the 2022 rainy season were roads and landslide cliffs.

Damage to infrastructure due to this natural disaster did not only occur in Sampang Regency, but also in Bangkalan.

The BPBD of the Bangkalan Regency Government previously released that 18 dams were damaged by natural disasters and have now also been proposed to get repair assistance from the central government.
