TNI Commander Promise: We Strive To Improve Soldiers' Welfare

JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa said his party will continue to strive to improve the welfare of TNI soldiers so that soldiers can focus on carrying out their respective duties and functions.

"They have to focus on their duties and functions. We will definitely continue to try to improve the welfare of TNI soldiers," Andika said on General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube channel as reported by Antara, Monday, June 13.

There is also a tangible manifestation of this commitment is the construction of official housing for TNI soldiers located in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi.

The construction of the official house is a response from the TNI to ensure the welfare of the soldiers who lost their homes due to the earthquake in early 2021.

The earthquake destroyed the official apartment at Korem 142/Taroada Tarogau Headquarters, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, causing 72 TNI families to lose their homes.

"At that time I was still the Army Chief of Staff, so we had to act immediately because the construction caused by the earthquake could not wait," said Andika.

Andika conducted a review in May 2022 after the construction of 118 official housing units which had been going on since mid-2021 had been completed. When conducting the review, Andika ensured that the water quality, housing quality, and layout were in accordance with the standards.

He also advised the soldiers who would occupy the new house to really look after and care for their residence properly, because in the future it would be inhabited by other personnel.

"It will be treated later, yes, so that it lasts. One time when Mas Bakhtiar moved, later those who continued or occupied this house were still in good condition," Andika said in a video clip on General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube channel when visiting the residence of one of the housing units for a TNI soldier named Bakhtiar.

Through the state's attention to TNI soldiers, Andika hopes that his soldiers can focus more on their work and show their best performance.
