Falling Asleep At The Crossroads, This 28-year-old Youth Almost Died From Being Struck By A Train On The Sukabumi-Cipatat Route

SUKABIMI - A young man with the initials MAA (28), a resident of Kebonpedes Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, almost died because he slept at a railroad crossing. MAA was struck by a train on the Sukabumi-Cipatat route on Sunday, June 12.

"The victim was rescued and has been rushed to the Hermina Hospital. MAA suffered injuries to several parts of his body because he was hit by a train," said Kebonpedes Police Chief Iptu Tommy Ganhani in Sukabumi, Antara, Sunday night.

According to information gathered from the police, the incident began when the victim and his colleague who had just returned from Awilega Village or a neighboring village were exhausted and chose to sleep at the railroad crossing.

However, unexpectedly, MAA was fast asleep and not long after, the Sukabumi-Cipatat train arrived. The victim's colleague, who knew there was a train, tried to wake MAA, but because his sleep was too deep, his colleague had difficulty waking him up.

His colleague's efforts to wake the victim were unsuccessful and the train was getting closer and finally an accident was inevitable, MAA was hit by a train and her body was dragged several meters.

According to Tommy, his personnel went directly to the scene after receiving information from an officer at Gandasoli Station, Kebonpedes District, who reported that an accident had occurred on the railroad crossing.

"With this incident, we urge residents to be careful when doing activities on railroad crossings because there are fears that something undesirable will happen," he said.
