Ministry Of Transportation Checks 2 Collision Ships In Batam

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Class II Tanjung Uban Marine and Coastal Guard Base (PLP) supervises and inspects two ships that experienced a collision incident in the North Nongsa waters, Batam.

Head of Tanjung Uban Class II PLP Base Capt Handry Sulfian said the collision incident occurred between TB Bina Marine 59 and MV Honwin. Currently MV Honwin is continuing his journey after the incident.

"There were no casualties. All crew members of the ship are safe," said Capt Handry in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 11.

Capt Handry revealed the initial chronology of the Tanjung Uban PLP Base receiving news from VTS Batam at 03.35 LT.

"We received information that there had been a collision between TB. Bina Marine 59 to Singapore and MV Honwin. The incident occurred at TSS Utara Nongsa," he said.

At the time of the incident, the TB Marine 59 barge from Tanjung Balai Karimun headed for Singapore with a cargo of 4,345,000 KGS geranium granite with a total of 8 crew members.

As a result of the incident, the TB Marine 59 barge was damaged, causing the barge to sink halfway.

"Now the position of TB Marine is safe after being evacuated by the SAR Team and KN Team. SAROTAMA -P.112 from Tanjung Uban PLP Base," he said.

Until now, the KN Sarotama-P112 Patrol Team is still on standby to supervise and inspect the ship.

"Furthermore, the Tanjung Uban PLP Base Team collaborated with the Batam Special KSOP Team while handing over ship documents and crew documents," he said.
