JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) calls the proposal to dissolve and merge its institution with the Attorney General's Office, which was made by the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman, a shallow argument.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, even mentioned the alleged gratification and money laundering crime (TPPU) of the inactive Banjarnegara Regent, Budhi Sarwono, who also dragged Boyamin's name.

"Usually Boyamin Saiman is smart with his arguments. This time we judge differently. However, we are very sure that it is not because the KPK is currently handling the case of the Banjarnegara Regent that Boyamin Saiman narrates opinions with such shallow arguments," Ali said in a written statement to reporters, Saturday. , June 11th.

The KPK, continued Ali, will not be affected by existing opinions, including those related to the disbandment. He said his agency prefers to focus on reducing the number of corruption cases in the country.

Ali also confirmed that the investigation into the alleged gratification and money laundering offenses involving Budhi would continue. As for the bribery case, he said that Budhi Sarwono had now been found guilty by the court.

"We also continue to develop the case in question. We will convey the progress," he said.

The KPK asserts that it is not anti-critic. All input will be accepted and used as evaluation material. "Because we are well aware that community participation is very important in joint efforts to eradicate corruption," said Ali.

"KPK appreciates the survey results as part of the community's role. We use them as material for introspection and positive input for the internal improvement of the KPK," he added.

Previously, Boyamin agreed with the proposal to dissolve the KPK and merge it with the Attorney General's Office. The proposal was originally submitted by a former KPK employee, Rasamala Aritonang.

The proposal developed after the KPK ranked last among other law enforcement agencies trusted by the public based on the results of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey.

Indonesian Political Indicators released the institutions with the highest level of trust, namely the TNI, reaching 85.3 percent; President 73.3 percent; Police 66.6 percent; Attorney General's Office 60.5 percent; and Courts with 51.1 percent.

As for the KPK, the level of trust is 49.8 percent or is the lowest among other law enforcement agencies. Other institutions under the KPK are the MPR, the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), the DPR, and political parties.

The survey was conducted using random digital dialing (RDD), which is a technique for selecting samples through a random telephone number generation process. The number of respondents involved were 1,213 people who were randomly selected with a margin of error of 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
