East Kalimantan Paser Fire Department Withdraws 762 Volunteers To Maximize Fire Handling

KALTIM - The Paser Regency Fire Department (Damkar) has formed 762 volunteer firefighters. This step was taken to maximize the handling of fires in each sub-district in the local area.

"These volunteers are partners of the Fire Service in handling fires in 10 sub-districts," said Head of the Fire Service Paser M. Lukman Dharma in Tanah Grogot, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), Thursday, June 9.

He said volunteer firefighters are a community-based social organization that voluntarily participates in realizing environmental resilience from fire hazards.

Through the help of these volunteers, he said, fire handling services in each area became faster and more effective.

The formation of volunteers, according to Lukman, is based on the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 364.1-306 of 2020 concerning Guidelines for the Guidance of Firefighters.

The volunteers formed have been provided with skills or training on how to deal with fires.

"So that later they know what to do when the danger of fire comes," he said.

He said these volunteers have several names including the Fire Brigade (Balakar), the Fire Brigade (BPK), and the Fire Care Society (MPA).

"Although there are many names, their duties are the same in the field," he said.
