JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto flew to Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Thursday morning to accelerate the handling of the 5.8 magnitude (M) earthquake that occurred on Wednesday (8/6) afternoon.

"The presence of BNPB in Mamuju today is to ensure that the handling of the emergency response goes well," said BNPB Head Suharyanto in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, June 9.

The Head of BNPB departed from Pondok Cabe airport in South Tangerang at 08.00 WIB accompanied by the Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB, Deputy for Logistics and Equipment, Acting Head of the Disaster Information and Communication Data Center, Director of Logistics and Equipment Management, Director of Emergency Resources Support, Director Recovery and Improvement of Social, Economic and Natural Resources, Experts and Special Staff.

According to the plan, the Head of BNPB and his entourage will meet with the Governor of Sulawesi Province and the ranks of the West Sulawesi Provincial Government at the Governor's Office of West Sulawesi Province to conduct a coordination meeting for the acceleration of earthquake disaster management.
