Still 'Embarrassed' To Say Name, Airlangga Explains Characteristics Of Candidates Carried By KIB Must Continue Jokowi's Relay

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto said the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) party already has a candidate to be carried in the 2024 presidential election. Airlangga denies the existence of KIB to nominate candidates from parties outside the KIB.

"First, there are candidates, but we haven't announced them yet," said Airlangga in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 8.

Airlangga is still shy about mentioning the names of the candidates that will be carried by KIB. However, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs revealed the characteristics of the presidential candidate that KIB will carry.

Among other things, the presidential candidate has the character to be able to continue the development of the era of President Joko Widodo's administration. This is in line with the vision and mission of KIB to oversee the Jokowi-Maruf government and continue development in the coming period.

"Continuing development (in the coming period)," said Airlangga.

According to him, this is because the KIB party is a supporter of the Jokowi-Maruf government.

The second characteristic is that the presidential candidate that will be promoted by KIB is an anti-political figure. In addition, it must be able to unite and prevent polarization in society.

According to Airlangga, the KIB political party has one thing in common to erode the polarization in society due to the 2014 presidential election.

"That's one of the things that is being pushed because political flow cannot be separated from, of course, the super-left and the super-right. We are not looking for extremes," he said.

Furthermore, the most important characteristic as a figure that will be carried by KIB as a presidential candidate is having high flying hours and experience. Especially in the face of a very dynamic political situation in Indonesia.

"Candidates must have experience, experience in government, DPR and MPR. Wherever," said Airlangga.
