Aceh Police Reveals Motives For Shooting Farmers In Aceh Besar, Revenge Because Suspect's Business Is Often Disturbed

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Regional Police (Polda) revealed the main motive for shooting two farmers in Aceh Besar District to death while undergoing medical treatment some time ago.

The Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said that the motive for the shooting was revenge because the victim often interfered with the business of suspect AB alias TW.

"The suspect AB alias TW is suspected of being an intellectual actor in the shooting. AB alias TW is suspected of ordering the shooting because his business is often disturbed by the victim," said Kombes Winardy, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.

Previously, two residents of Aceh Besar, Ridwan (38) and Maimun (38) were victims of shootings when they returned from their garden in Aneuk Glee Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency, Thursday (12/5) night.

He said that the suspect's wood refinery business was often disturbed by the victim. Currently, AB is being held at the Aceh Police Headquarters Rutan after being named a suspect for being an intellectual actor, funding and planning the shooting.

He said the target of the shooting was Ridwan. However, during the shooting, Maimun was with Ridwan, so he was also shot so that the shooting would not leak.

Regarding other matters, he said, investigators are still investigating because there are other parties being hunted, namely the executor of the shooting. Meanwhile, the identity of the executor is known.

"We are still waiting for further information from investigators' examination. We will continue to convey the development of this shooting case," he said.

In this case, the Aceh Police have arrested six suspected perpetrators, namely AW alias TW who is suspected of planning, giving orders, and funding the shooting.

Next, TM acts as a logistics planner and supplier. DW acts as information provider and logistics supplier, and MZ, ZD, and MY act as executor companions and field monitors. All of the alleged perpetrators are residents of Aceh Besar District.

From the scene of the case, investigators secured a number of evidences, including bullet casings with a 5.56 millimeter caliber sebo or face coverings, motorcycles, and others.

"The type of weapon used is still being studied. The cartridges were sent to the Forensic Laboratory to confirm the weapon used. From its size, the 5.56-millimeter caliber is a long-barreled firearm," he said.

He said the perpetrators were charged with Article 338 in conjunction with Article 340 of the Criminal Code on Murder and Premeditated Murder. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and the death penalty.

"We urge the public not to speculate regarding the shooting. From the results of the investigation, the shooting is not related to any particular group, it is purely an ordinary crime, the revenge of the perpetrator and the victim," he explained.
