JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will continue to search for former legislative candidate (caleg) for the 2019 Election, Harun Masiku. This fugitive will continue to be pursued even though the anti-corruption commission now has the authority to issue a letter of termination of investigation (SP3).

"Of course we will not give up as long as his status is still a suspect," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata, quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Monday, June 6.

Alexander said that his agency now has new authority to issue SP3 based on Law Number 19 of 2019. However, the process cannot be arbitrary.

After all, Harun Masiku is the perpetrator of the bribery of former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. So, the search will continue.

"Even though the KPK in the new law has the authority to publish or stop investigations, it must be clear on the status, the status of the evidence that the KPK already has," he said.

"We do not have the slightest doubt that the person concerned was involved in a corruption crime of giving something to the KPU commissioner at that time," added Alexander.

The KPK, he continued, has also been serious in its search efforts. One of the proofs is sending a letter to the police to help with the search process.

"We are not silent. We ask the Indonesian police, which has a network of apparatus to remote parts of Indonesia, and even has international cooperation with the international community to help us find HM," he said.

Alexander made sure that Aaron would be arrested soon. However, this step can only be done if the fugitive's position is known.

"If we knew the whereabouts of the person concerned, of course we would have made an arrest. We will not hesitate to continue to arrest the person concerned," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could easily sit as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives through interim shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

However, Harun, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.

Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been a fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
