JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is reluctant to respond to the desire of the Formula E Organizing Committee for a state-owned company to sponsor the racing event.

Anies said that he is focused on preparing the best plans for organizing this electric car race until the D-day of the race on Saturday, June 4.

"Anyway, we are all preparing to organize it. There are only 2 days left, at this phase our concentration is to ensure all plans go well," said Anies at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, June 2.

Anies wants Formula E to run smoothly, so that it can bring Indonesia's good name in the eyes of the world. Including, sending a message that Jakarta is preparing to intensify the use of electric vehicles.

"Pray, God willing, it will run smoothly. Inshaallah this will send a message that the future is a time where we must be environmentally friendly. Formula E marks a new chapter for us to transform using environmentally friendly vehicles in Jakarta," he explained.

In contrast to Anies, the Chairman of the Formula E Executive Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, explained his reason for asking the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir so that SOEs could sponsor the Formula E event.

"I'm conveying today about BUMN. Why do people say 'you desperately asked for sponsors yesterday'. This is not a question of money but pride," said Sahroni during a meet and greet or meet and greet with Formula E drivers in the National Monument area ( Monas).

Sahroni revealed that the executive committee asked SOEs to sponsor Formula E because this electric car racing event was held not only to showcase the Jakartans, but also Indonesia.

Remember, the Jakarta E-Prix in Ancol on Saturday, June 4 will be broadcast in 170 countries.

"I plead for SOEs to join for the sake of the nation and state, not welding because of other factors. Because I am pleading for SOEs to participate that Indonesia exists for formula E activities," said Sahroni.

"That BUMN is present for Indonesia. Not Anies or Jakarta, but Indonesia. Do you agree? I welded to BUMN for Indonesia," he continued.
