JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has asked residents to not sell permanent housing for victims affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru, which has been completed and has been inhabited, in Lumajang, East Java.

"I ask not to sell it," said the vice president after reviewing permanent housing and temporary housing in Sumber Mujur Village, Candipuro, Lumajang, East Java, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 2.

The vice president said that people affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru already felt at home with the facilities and environment in the permanent residence, so residents should stay there.

Ma'ruf Amin also expressed his appreciation to all parties who have contributed to the construction of permanent housing and temporary housing for victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru.

"I would like to thank the Head of BNPB, Ministry of PUPR, local government, all who have worked together so that efforts to provide shelter for the victims of the Semeru eruption can be carried out properly," he said.

Currently, 1,951 units of permanent housing for victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru have been completely built. Regarding temporary housing, 437 units of construction have been completed from the target of 1,951 units; while as many as 441 units are in the process of being completed and 130 units are already inhabited by residents.

The vice president has instructed the construction of temporary housing to be completed within the next three months, so that more people can be accommodated.

Meanwhile, one resident of the permanent residence named Junaidi told the Vice President that he felt comfortable living there. He also thanked the Government's efforts to provide shelter for people affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru.

Junaidi also hopes that the construction of additional facilities around the residence, such as markets, schools, health centers, and mosques, can be completed soon.
