Members Of The House Of Representatives Claim That Free Sentences For Drug Dealers In Central Kalimantan Hurt People's Hearts

PALANGKA RAYA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the constituency of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, believes that the acquittal of the accused drug dealer Saleh of the type of methamphetamine in the Palangka Raya District Court has hurt the hearts of people in the local province.

"The decision by the panel of judges to acquit the defendant of the shabu dealer, of course, hurts the spirit of eradicating narcotics that has been echoed by the central and regional governments so far," he said in Palangka Raya, Monday, May 30.

According to him, as representatives of the people from Bumi Tambun Bungai-Bumi Pancasila, of course, his party encourages the Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supervisory Agency (Bawas) of the Supreme Court (MA), to proactively investigate the acquittal of Saleh who lives in the Rindang Banua Street area or the Puntun Complex.

All parties were certainly very surprised by the decision of the Palangka Raya District Court judge because it was not in accordance with the government's firmness on the eradication of drugs that had been intensively carried out. The community's paradigm toward the judiciary in Indonesia still depicts negative things about judges who acquitted methamphetamine dealers.

"According to the facts on the ground some time ago, it was clear, therefore, don't let things like this happen again in our area, just this once happened," he said, quoted by Antara.

The DPR member also encouraged the public prosecutor to appeal. Because cassation is one of the legal remedies that can be requested by one or both parties litigating against a decision of the High Court.

The parties can file an appeal if they are not satisfied with the contents of the High Court's decision to the Supreme Court. Then Judicial Commission can investigate to ascertain whether there is a judge playing on the shabu dealer's verdict.

"The goal is to find out whether the acquittal was due to something or the verdict was due to weak evidence and indictments," said Agustiar, who is also the chairman of the Central Kalimantan Dayak Customary Council (DAD).

The older brother of the Governor of Central Kalimantan, Sugianto Sabran, also hoped that an important role in eradicating drugs must have cooperation with a number of other elements, including the younger generation in the area.

For the Police and the Public Prosecutor, they should never give low articles to drug dealers, users and dealers in Central Kalimantan.

This is a form of combating the drug problem and providing a deterrent effect to the perpetrators, including drug dealers who are strongly suspected of continuing to circulate illicit goods to a number of areas in this province.
