Overcoming Floods In Ketitang, Surabaya City Government Moves Culinary Tourism Center To ITTS Campus

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government moved the culinary tourism center (SWK) to the campus of the Telkom Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITTS).

This is to overcome the frequent flooding in the Ketintang area, City of Heroes, East Java.

Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi said that his party was grateful because after decades the SWK in Ketintang could finally be built on the ITTS campus.

"So far I have been thinking how to deal with inundation in the Ketintang area and the ITTS campus also looks good from the front," said Eri.

Finally, he continued, at that time the municipal government discussed with Telkom the development of the SWK.

Meanwhile, the city government will build a channel above which street vendors can use to sell.

In fact, at that time the city government also hoped that the street vendors could be accommodated by Telkom to be included in the SWK.

"Alhamdulillah, we are welcome, Telkom with all its advantages accepts and is ready to build the Ketintang SWK. Yesterday (Friday) the groundbreaking for the SWK construction on the ITTS Campus," he said.

According to Eri, with the construction of the Ketintang SWK, it can at least reduce waterlogging in this area. Because, he continued, when his party wanted to build a channel, it turned out that the channel above was used to sell street vendors who in fact had been selling at that place for decades.

"Thank God, Telkom gave an example, by putting their sectoral ego, they are willing to build this SWK. Of course this can be an example for other BUMN and BUMD in the Surabaya area. If this can be realized, I am sure it will create happiness, peace and comfort for the citizens of Surabaya City Life is beautiful when it complements and synergizes," he said.

With the start of the SWK construction, said Eri, the city government will immediately build a water channel in the area. The municipal government will also build and widen roads in the area.

"The construction has started and God willing, before next August the construction will be completed and can be inaugurated. Hopefully by then the channel will be wide and smooth, there will be no more buildings on it, the road will be wider and more comfortable for residents to enjoy," he said.
