BOGOR - The Bogor City Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force gave red stickers to six shops in Bogor Market selling bulk cooking oil above Rp. 17,000/kilogram, exceeding the highest retail price (HET) of Rp. 15,500/kg.

The Head of the Bogor City Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force who is also the Bogor City Police Chief Kombes Susatyo together with the Bogor City Dandim 0606 Lt. Col. Inf Ali Akhwan and the Deputy Mayor of Bogor Dedie A. Rachim visited the Bogor Market to make sure the officers put the stickers on.

Exactly the second shop from the direction of entering the Bogor Market was immediately given a red sticker which was installed by Lt. Col. Ali Akhwan because he admitted that he sold bulk cooking oil above Rp. 17,000.

"We hope that our efforts will at least be able to reduce the price from above 17,000 per kilogram in the near future," said Kombes Susatyo as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 27.

Susatyo explained that the shop is one example that has prompted the Bogor City Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force to check suppliers to obtain information about price disparities or differences to retailers.

The difference in prices, said Susatyo, from the results of the examination on Thursday (26/5), as many as 15 shop traders in 11 markets gave different information.

Some get cooking oil from the same supplier, but sell it at different prices to buyers. On the other hand, there are also those who actually get cooking oil prices from suppliers that are already above HET.

Susatyo explained efforts to reduce prices using a classification based on price. If it complies with the HET it is classified as a green category. But if it sells up to 10 percent above the HET, it is classified as yellow, while if it is above 10 percent of the HET or above Rp. 17,000, it is categorized as red.

"For example, in this shop, the price from the supplier is already Rp. 17,000, so it is impossible to sell at Rp. 16,000. So this is what we are looking for," he said.

The head of the Bogor City Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force said that he would immediately check the cooking oil suppliers in his area to find out the reasons for the price difference and conduct an evaluation.

Traders and suppliers who do not intentionally push prices too far, but because the distribution chain is not effective, will be given guidance.

However, for traders or suppliers who do make cooking oil prices soar far from the HET set by the Ministry of Trade, law enforcement can be enforced.

"The existence of the Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force is of course more for guidance, but if later we find there is an element of intent that is not fair at all, of course we will give administrative or other sanctions, according to applicable regulations," he said.
