Buya Syafii Maarif Dies, JK: He Did A Lot Of Services In Muhammadiyah And Community Organizations

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Jusuf Kalla mourns the death of the Islamic figure and scholar, Buya Syafii Maarif.

Jusuf Kalla said Buya Syafii had contributed a lot to the Muhammadiyah community and organization. JK invites all parties to pray for him.

"He has done a lot of good for the Muhammadiyah organization and the whole community. Therefore we pray that he will get a very high place by his side and also pray that the family he left behind will receive grace from God," said Jusuf Kalla in a video statement to reporters, Friday, May 27.

The 10th and 12th Vice Presidents said that the death of Buya Syafii was a loss for the nation.

"Because he always thinks about not only himself but the nation, which has always been his mind of restlessness," said Jusuf Kalla.

"Hopefully the whole nation will pray for him and God willing, we will all also give encouragement so that the ideals of the deceased can be achieved by this nation," he added.

Previously reported, Buya Syafii died at the age of 86 years. He breathed at the PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Yogyakarta.

"Buya Prof Dr H Ahmad Syafii Maarif has passed away on Friday, 27 May 2022, at 10.15 WIB at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital," said Haedar in a written statement, Friday, May 27.

Regarding Buya Syafii's funeral, Haedar Nasir did not provide further details. He asked the public to pray for the deceased and forgive his mistakes during his life.

"Hopefully he is husnul khatimah, accepted for his deeds of worship, forgiven for his mistakes, opened in his grave, and placed in jannatun na'im," said Haedar.
