TNI Commander Affirms Support For National Food Security Program

JAKARTA - The TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa emphasized that the TNI is ready to support the food security program carried out by the National Food Agency (Bapanas) in accordance with the TNI's main duties.

"We strongly support the National Food Agency's program for national food security throughout Indonesia," said TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa through the YouTube channel quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 25.

The Commander in Chief said that the TNI was ready to assist in various stabilization programs for national food security and to cooperate in the food sector.

Both in terms of security and distribution as well as in the context of building food estates or food barns throughout Indonesia, said the TNI Commander.

"We are ready to help Bapanas according to the TNI's main task," he said.

Not only ready to support and promise, General Andika said the last few years even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the TNI had proven real work related to food security.

Meanwhile, Main Secretary of Bapanas Sarwo Edi said the agency's task was to secure national food stabilization.

Starting from the availability, distribution, food security, to the affordability of food so that it is easily accessible to every community in various regions of the country.

He explained that the programs handled by Bapanas were rice or rice, corn, soybeans, chicken meat, beef, chicken eggs, onions and garlic, and chilies.

According to him, food security is a national problem. Therefore, in the future, Bapanas will arrange food estate pilot projects in a number of provinces.
