Sandiaga Uno Ready To Support Young Filmmakers Awakening Indonesian Economy

JAKARTA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, congratulated the election of the film Pesen Pungkasan and Di Bawah Langit Yang Sama as the first and second place winners in the Festival Sunday Movie (FSM) for the May 2022 period.

"For the film production team 'Pesen Pungkasan' and 'Di Bawah Langit Yang Sama, we congratulate you on becoming the official selection for the May period", said Sandiaga, quoted from a written statement, Monday, May 23.

Sandiaga also expressed his gratitude to the participants who had participated in the May FSM period.

"Salute to those of you who are still enthusiastic about working, taking the time to participate in the midst of the Idul Fitri momentum, and being part of the national economic recovery", continued Sandiaga.

Sandiaga said of the dozens of participants, 75 percent were new faces. Film works that are registered are also dominated by new films.

Sandiaga hopes that more young filmmakers will be motivated to join FSM so that business opportunities through the creative industry are wide open.

“From FSM, we see that young Indonesians have various talents and are competitive. The more filmmakers who are motivated to join FSM, the more business opportunities and new job opportunities in the creative industry will be opened,” said Sandiaga.

On the other hand, this is also a smart step to revive the creative economy in the post-pandemic era, as it is well known that film is a sub-sector that has proven to be fast in absorbing labor.

He hopes that this can trigger young creators to continue to produce unique and quality works.

"Come on, optimize all the potential we have, awaken the creative economy by working #DiIndonesiaAja", said Sandiaga excitedly.

Sandiaga also appealed to participants who have not been selected not to stop working and keep registering their best works at the FSM for the next June period.

"Because masterpieces will always find a way", he said.
