Anies Extends Term Of RT And RW, PKS: Reasonable, Pity Mr. RT Who Has No Replacement For Life

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has extended the term of office of the RT or RW management to 5 years. This is stated in the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) DKI Number 22 of 2022 concerning the Neighborhood Units and Residents' Pillars.

Previously, in Pergub Pergub Number 171 of 2016 issued by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) when he was governor of DKI, the term of office for RT-RW management was limited to 3 years.

Responding to the changes to this Pergub, the advisor to the PKS faction of the DKI DPRD, Karyatin Subiyantoro, said that it was still normal. He said the 5-year term cycle is the same as the government leadership cycle, so the management of RT and RW will become more stable.

In addition to a 5-year term, Article 28 of this Pergub also stipulates that RT/RW management can only serve a maximum of two consecutive or non-consecutive terms.

"By limiting the period to 2 times, the community can prepare the best for the next generation to actively participate in society," he said, Friday, May 20.

"Pity Mr. RT who has no replacement for the rest of his life, then this Pergub is the answer to this problem," he added.

The secretary of Commission A of the DKI DPRD also explained that with the renewal of the governor's regulation, the provincial government would get positive scores for the RT/RW.

"There is a fresh legal umbrella for administrators regarding the rights, obligations, and implementation of RT/RW activities that are budgeted for in the APBD," he said.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, issued DKI Governor Regulation No. 22 of 2022 concerning the Neighborhood Associations and Residents' Pillars. This gubernatorial regulation replaces gubernatorial regulation No. 171 of 2016 which was issued by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) when he was governor of DKI.

In Pergub Number 22 of 2022, Anies extended the term of office of the RT or RW management to 5 years. In the Pergub that Ahok previously signed, the term of office of the RT-RW management was limited to 3 years.

"The term of office for the RT or RW management is 5 years from the date of the lurah decision," Anies wrote in Article 28 Paragraph (1) of the Governor's Regulation No. 22 of 2022, quoted on Thursday, May 19.
