JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is collaborating with two railway industry companies from France, namely Alstom and Thales to improve infrastructure and services.
The collaboration, which was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding, was carried out at the 2022 Investing in Urban Regeneration Forum in Paris, France, which involved major railway industry players in France.
"The signing of a memorandum of understanding with two large companies in the French railway industry is MRT Jakarta's effort to present the future of transportation in Indonesia," said PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director William Sabandar as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 19.
William explained that the collaboration with the two well-known rail industry companies in France is also MRT's effort to present a new face for Jakarta as a new and renewable economic center in Indonesia.
MRT's collaboration with Alstom includes the development of a railway system solution that includes a scheme for the procurement of rolling stock, signals, infrastructure, and MRT Jakarta services.
Meanwhile with Thales, MRT is exploring cooperation that includes technology solutions for ticketing system integration.
"With Alstom, we will see cooperation to build the most appropriate urban rail system for Jakarta, while with Thales, we will explore technological aspects and technical solutions related to ticketing and payment systems for the next MRT Jakarta development," William said.
He said MRT would see the potential for cooperation as a provider of consulting services for other regions that wish to develop an urban public transportation system.
William hopes that through this meeting with world-class urban rail industry players, the future of public transportation in Jakarta will be better and Jakarta will become a city that is on par with other metropolitan cities.
