JAKARTA - Head of the Salemba Class 1 Detention Center, Central Jakarta, Fonika Affandi, explained that the failure to smuggle marijuana packages was known from the suspicions of the detention center officers through X-Ray rays.

"The information we get is related to package delivery, through a delivery service that is addressed to correctional inmates (WBP). So there is a sender, there is also a recipient," said Fonika when confirmed, Thursday, May 19.

Fonika explained that the initial delivery of the package came from Surabaya, which was sent to the address of the family of the inmates with the initials C, who was in Jakarta.

"After arriving there with the family, maybe it was the delivery of clothes or something, so the package was opened and put clothes in. Then the package was closed again like the shipping package from the original expedition. After that, it was sent (back) via courier service, gosend, you know, to the residents fostered by the initials F," said Fonika.

Arriving at the Salemba Detention Center, the package was checked by the detention center officers and put into an X-Ray beam because it was suspicious. After being opened, the package was checked and it turned out to be a type of dried marijuana.

"We will contact the police, we will also ask for information about the WBP," he said.

Until now, joint officers are still tracing the families of the community members who sent packages to the Salemba Rutan via online motorcycle taxis (ojol).

"We don't know whether the one from Surabaya already exists, or if it's only filled in when it's at home (the WBP's family). That's still a development process by the authorities," he said.

The case of smuggling marijuana into the Salemba detention center has been handed over to the Cempaka Putih Police for further investigation.

Previously, it was reported that three wardens at the Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta, managed to thwart the smuggling of one ounce dried marijuana packaged in tea leaf seeds.

The smuggling of dried marijuana leaves is strongly suspected of being aimed at an inmate who is still languishing in the Salemba Rutan. The smuggling was carried out using the services of an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol).
