Purwonegoro Banjarnegara Animal Market Closed For 14 Days To Prevent FMD, Police Are Ready To Secure

BANJARNEGARA - Banjarnegara Resort Police personnel secure the implementation of the Banjarnegara Regency Government's policy, Central Java, to temporarily close the animal market for 14 days starting May 16, 2022.

"The closure of the animal market will be carried out in stages. Today it will be held at the Purwonegoro Animal Market, Purwanegara District," said Banjarnegara Police Chief AKBP Hendri Yulianto in Banjarnegara as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

According to him, securing the closure of the animal market by Banjarnegara Police personnel also involved the TNI and other relevant agencies such as the Civil Service Police Unit, the Industry and Trade Service, and the Banjarnegara District Health Service.

He hopes that with the closure of the animal market, the case of PMK on livestock in Banjarnegara can be controlled.

"We are doing security so that the closure activities run safely. We also place personnel to patrol the animal market which is closed," said the Police Chief.

AKBP Hendri said, in order to monitor the traffic of animals, his party would conduct an isolation at the Banjarnegara border with Wonosobo, Purbalingga, Banyumas, and Kebumen Regencies.

In addition, his party also continues to conduct socialization and checks on farms and slaughterhouses (RPH) and provide counseling to farmers related to the prevention of FMD and its handling if there are livestock that experience symptoms of the disease.

Separately, the Daily Executive of Banjarnegara Regent Syamsudin said the closure of the animal market was carried out because based on examinations in two sub-districts it was found that as many as 14 cows were positive for FMD.

"In addition, there are 126 cows suspected of PMK, the results of which have not yet been released," he said.
