Bangka Regent Fires Two Contract Employees For Positive Drugs

BANGKA - The Regent of Bangka Mulkan dishonorably dismissed two employees with the status of contract workers because they were found to have tested positive for drugs.

"Two people we stopped did not respect the status of contract workers who were found to be positive for using drugs after previously undergoing a urine test conducted by the Narcotics Agency," he said in Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Tuesday 17 May.

He explained the importance of imposing sanctions on these employees.

"The dismissal serves as a deterrent effect for the person concerned and serves as an example so that other employees do not commit violations of using illegal drugs," he said, quoted by Antara.

In addition to the two people who have been dismissed, his party is still monitoring four other people or colleagues of two people who have been dismissed because they are suspected of using the same illegal drug.

"I will take strict action against employees who are found to be using illegal drugs of all kinds, such as drugs, marijuana, or other prohibited drugs," he said.

He said urine tests for employees, both ASN and contract workers, would gradually target all regional apparatus organizations (OPD).

"We are working with the Narcotics Agency to arrange a urine test for ASN in all OPDs and even all teachers and students at the 9th-grade junior high school level," he said.
