BOGOR - Bogor City Health Office, West Java revealed that the peak data for dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases shifted from the previous two years, 2019-2020 reaching the highest number at the beginning of the year, January-February and becoming the end of the year in 2021.

Secretary of the Bogor City Health Office Erna Nuraena provided three comparative data from 2019, 2020 and 2021 which showed the highest graph was in December in 2021.

"The reason why it was so high that month was definitely because there were a lot of puddles due to high rainfall that the community had not cleaned up optimally," he said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 17.

According to Erna, to reduce the number of cases of dengue patients only with good prevention from the community regarding environmental hygiene.

From data from the Bogor City Health Office, in January 2019 there were 152 DHF patients and in February there were 157 patients, then it continued to decline until December.

In 2020, when the issue of the COVID-19 Pandemic began to become a concern for all countries, the number of BDB patients decreased drastically, only 48 patients in January and 64 people in February.

In Indonesia, a number of policies for the COVID-19 pandemic began to be felt in February 2020, so that people did not do much activities outside their homes.

However, data from the Bogor City Health Office shows that the number of DHF patients is actually small in early 2021, namely only 13 patients in January and seven patients in February.

In that year, the public mobility policy was still quite strict, which prompted more people to stay indoors to avoid a spike in COVID-19 cases. The Bogor City COVID-19 Task Force is so aggressively capturing people who violate health protocols, mobility and actively vaccinating by picking up the ball and being humane.

However, at the end of 2021 until the middle of 2022, the number of dengue cases has increased again as in the previous two years.

In December 2021, the Bogor City Health Office recorded as many as 101 DHF patients, so the graph increased again. Furthermore, during January-April 2022, 511 people were attacked by DHF. In January in the rainy season, cases of dengue fever patients reached 129 people. Then it fell in February to 75 people, jumped 100 percent to 155 people in March and started to fall in April to 152 people.

The city of Bogor, which has higher rainfall than other areas, said Erna, demands that its people also pay more attention to eradicating puddles of water in places that are rarely cleaned to prevent dengue fever.

"For the prevention of DHF, maintain the cleanliness of their respective home environment with PSN (mosquito nest eradication). If there are symptoms, immediately go to a health facility," he urged.
