President Jokowi Meets Elon Musk At Space X

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) discussed with the founder of Space X, Elon Musk, as well as inspecting the factory that produces the rocket in Boca Chica, United States, Saturday local time.

The President arrived at the Stargate Space X Building at around 10:30 am local time and was greeted directly by Elon Musk. President Jokowi and Elon Musk had a meeting before going around to see the Space X rocket production facility.

After the review, the President said that this visit was a follow-up to his order to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to speak with Elon.

"A follow-up to my order to talk to Elon about investment, about technology, about innovation, and now I'm here and meet directly with Elon to discuss future cooperation," the President said in an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat quoted from Antara, Sunday.

Elon Musk on the same occasion said he was very interested in the future of Indonesia. Indonesia looks very optimistic about the future and has positive energy.

"I think Indonesia has great potential, and I think we through Tesla and Space X will try some collaborations with Indonesia," said Elon.

Furthermore, Elon also expressed his interest in collaborating with Indonesia considering that Indonesia has potential in many fields.

"We will see closely the form of cooperation in many ways, because Indonesia has a lot of potentials. Moreover, Indonesia has a large population and continues to grow. This is good because we need a lot of people in the future," said Elon.

Also accompanying President Jokowi on the visit were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Indonesian Ambassador to the US Rosan Roeslani.
