CIANJUR - The Cianjur Regency Government, West Java, is focusing on improving road infrastructure to tourism objects to support economic recovery as an effort to increase tourist visits.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said for economic recovery after the pandemic, his party allocated funds for the construction and repair of district roads whose condition was damaged, especially towards mainstay tourist attractions in the south of Cianjur.

"We have a mainstay tour, which during the long holiday, many tourists and travelers return home. We hope they can promote the existence of tourist attractions in Cianjur from north to south," he said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

His party noted that most of the new tourism objects are in southern Cianjur, so that the allocation of funds is prepared up to hundreds of billions of rupiah for road construction and repairs, so that the wheels of the economy in each region can run quickly and grow again.

Because he said, when the infrastructure is good and passable, it will have an impact on a faster economic turnaround, including the number of tourist visits to Cianjur will increase because it doesn't take long to get to the existing tourist attractions.

"Cianjur has natural attractions, the oldest site in the world, Mount Padang, hundreds of waterfalls to the longest stretch of beach that has its own beauty, including the Cianjur Square Park which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo," he said.

Meanwhile, residents in several sub-districts in the southern region of Cianjur hope that the construction of the main road connecting villages and sub-districts belonging to the district will soon be built so that the economy can rebound and economic activities can run quickly.

The reason is that according to a community leader in southern Cianjur, Dadang Kobul, development and economic activity in the south are hampered due to poor infrastructure. Even since a dozen years the district-owned roads that stretch in the southern region seem to have minimal attention.

"Our hope is that after the pandemic is over, the district government will keep its promise to build and repair damaged road infrastructure. Many new tourist attractions in the south are empty of visitors because they are disappointed with the long distances due to damaged roads," he said.
