JAKARTA - The iron plate that covers the drain on Jalan Kramat Raya, Senen District, has been stolen by irresponsible people.

The head of the Water Resources Implementation Unit (Kasatpel) of Senen Sub-district, Zul Fahmi, confirmed that the iron plate covering the channel weighing approximately 100 kilograms was missing.

"Yes, it's true that the iron plate was missing. Even though last night the iron plate was still there," said Zul Fahmi when contacted by reporters, Thursday, May 12.

Fahmi said that the theft of metal plates measuring 60 x 90 centimeters and weighing 100 kg was allegedly carried out on Thursday, May 12, in the morning. The theft can be done when the traffic flow is quiet from the vehicle.

"It is certain that the road conditions are deserted, it may also be done in the early hours of the morning. The iron plate is on a road with active vehicles, namely Jalan Kramat Raya," he said.

Zul Fahmi is also grateful that so far there have been no victims due to the missing iron plate cover. The reason is that if a vehicle enters the channel, it can be fatal.

"It is 1 meter deep. Fortunately, there were no victims from the loss of the iron plate," he said.

He suspected that the perpetrators of the theft were scavengers. The loss of the iron plate was carried out by breaking or prying it out.

In order to prevent the same case of loss, all iron plates will be strengthened by casting.

"We also haven't reported it to the police, at this time we are prioritizing the replacement of the iron plate so that vehicles can pass again," he said.

From the records of the SDA Satpel of Senen Sub-district, the theft of iron plates is the first time this has occurred.
