123 Demonstrators Reject COVID-19 Reactive Job Creation Law, Task Force: Concerned

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito said that 123 demonstrators who were secured by the police from various provinces in Indonesia were declared reactive to COVID-19 based on rapid tests.

These demonstrators are an action that has been running for the last few days. There are two main groups that express their aspirations openly, namely the student group and the labor group.

"From the temporary data, the masses who were secured by the police and the TNI who were guarding the demonstrations in several provinces were very concerned about the discovery of the reactive results of COVID-19," said Wiku in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube account, Tuesday, October 13.

In detail, there are 21 out of 253 reactive demonstrators in North Sumatra, 34 out of 1,192 reactive demonstrators in DKI Jakarta, 24 out of 650 reactive demonstrators in East Java, 30 out of 261 demonstrators in South Sulawesi.

Then, 13 of 39 reactive demonstrators in West Java, 1 in 95 people who were secured reactive in the DIY area. Meanwhile, the results of the rapid examination of demonstrators in Central Java are still in the confirmation stage.

Wiku said, the hundreds of demonstrators who were reactive to COVID-19 could be said to be the tip of the iceberg from the fact that the corona virus can spread quickly and widely.

"This figure is predicted to increase in the next 2 to 3 weeks because of the possibility of transmission from demonstrators who are positive for COVID-19 to other demonstrators," said Wiku.

Furthermore, Wiku asked people who were declared reactive to COVID-19 to immediately carry out tracing to also ensure their closest contact.

"Finally, people whose family members are participating in the action immediately go to health facilities. If anyone experiences symptoms of COVID-19. So that their health status can be ascertained," explained Wiku.
