CIREBON - Syarikat Islam (SI) Cirebon Branch, West Java, supports Ridwan Kamil to run for the 2024 Presidential Election and hopes to partner with Anies Baswedan.

"We see that if Ridwan Kamil and Anies Baswedan are paired, God willing, they will win and Indonesia will progress further," said the head of the Cirebon Islamic Society, Musara, as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 9.

Musara reasoned that this support for Ridwan Kamil was because the Governor of West Java was very supportive of the people and the people.

The programs launched by Ridwan Kamil such as the Prosperous Economic Community Credit (Mesra) and the One Village One Quran Memorizing Program (Sadesha), are proof that the person concerned really cares about Islam.

"Ridwan Kamil's attention to the religious field is very big. God willing, if he becomes president, the economic empowerment of the people and the Islamic boarding school can be better," he said.

He admits that SI Cirebon has not yet stated a political stance regarding the 2024 presidential election. However, internally SI Cirebon has Team 9, which is part of the volunteer Ridwan Kamil of the Indonesian National Champion Movement (GNIJ).

"I personally support RK. Including Team 9 who joined GNIJ, they are ready to win Ridwan Kamil as the next President of Indonesia," he said.

Musra added that Ridwan Kamil was the winner of the 2018 West Java gubernatorial election. Previously, the architect who graduated from ITB carried out the mandate as Mayor of Bandung.

Ridwan Kamil's track record includes, among others, rolling out a pesantren community empowerment program through One Pesantren One Product (OPOP), then One Desa Satu Hafiz (Sadesha), English for Ulama, to the issuance of the Perda Pesantren, which is the first in Indonesia.
