KUPANG - Regent of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, Korinus Masneno reminded BPBD not to cut natural disaster aid funds for victims of the Seroja natural disaster.

"The aid funds provided by the central government must be received in full. There should be no deductions if you do not want to face legal problems," said Kupang Regent Korinus Masneno in Kupang, Antara, Monday, May 9.

Korinus Masneno said that the Seroja aid fund of Rp. 229 billion was allocated for 11,036 victims of the Seroja storm natural disaster in Kupang Regency. He said it was not allowed to provide funds in return for any services to village heads, verification officers or BPBD officers.

"Seroja's aid funds are for disaster victims, so it is not allowed to cut or provide assistance funds for officers," he said.

According to him, if it is known that there are officers who ask for funds from disaster victims, they will certainly be processed legally.

He explained that the Kupang Regency Government cooperated with the Prosecutor's Office, the Police and the TNI to supervise the distribution of the Seroja aid funds in order to anticipate any irregularities in the distribution of the Seroja funds.

According to him, the distribution of Seroja's aid funds in Kupang Regency must be completed by December 2021.

He explained that Seroja's aid funds distributed through the BRI Kupang branch were also not subject to any administrative deductions.

"The community received the funds in full. There were no deductions whatsoever. We also hope that the beneficiaries will not give tips to officers who come to verify in the field," said Korinus Masneno.
