BANYUMAS - The Banyumas City Police (Polresta) implemented traffic engineering on the southern route of Central Java to reduce the density of vehicle traffic on the Ajibarang-Bumiayu section, a road connecting the middle and south lanes of Central Java with the Pantura route.

Head of the Traffic Unit (Kasat Lalu) of the Banyumas Police, Kompol Arie Prayitno, said the traffic engineering was carried out at several points, including Kemranjen and Wangon.

In carrying out traffic engineering at the Kemranjen, he said, some vehicles headed for Jakarta that passed on the southern route of Central Java were diverted towards Banyumas and then headed to the toll gate in Pemalang.

"But we don't dare to do too much, little by little, because it is feared that it will add to the burden on the Kaliori-Sokaraja road which is quite congested," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 6.

Meanwhile in Wangon, he said, some of the traffic coming from the east (Yogyakarta, ed.) was directed through the southern route of Central Java to Bandung and Jakarta.

Thus, the density of vehicle traffic on the Ajibarang-Bumiayu section, which is a road connecting the south and middle lanes with the north coast lane, can be reduced.

"We are also preparing a scenario to enforce a one-way flow from Ajibarang to the Bumiayu Ring Road at midnight, but that of course depends on the readiness of our friends at the Brebes Police. If Brebes is ready, we will play (one-way flow, ed.)," he said.

Regarding the backflow on the Ajibarang-Bumiayu section on Friday (6/5) night, Kompol Arie said it was due to several factors, including the withdrawal of the vehicle flow by Brebes Police personnel to make room for vehicles that were still running. located in the Banyumas area.

In addition, he said, the stagnation of the flow of vehicles was also caused by the behavior of the drivers themselves, such as resting by parking the vehicle on the side of the road or playing with their gadgets while driving.

According to him, community activities around the road also affect the smooth flow of traffic.

"We urge drivers to rest in rest areas if they feel tired, and don't play 'mobile phones' when the speed of the vehicle falters because it is feared that they will not know if the vehicle in front is already running," said Kasatlantas.
