KPK Hands Over The Suspect And Case Files In The Bekasi City Government Corruption Allegation To The Prosecutor's Team

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has handed over evidence and five suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of goods and services as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government (Pemkot) to the prosecutor team for prosecution so that they can immediately be tried at the Bandung District Court. The five suspects in the case are the inactive Mayor of Bekasi Rahmat Effendi (RE), the Head of Jatisampurna Wahyudin (WY), the Secretary of the Provincial Investment and One Stop Service Office (WY). Bekasi City DPMPTSP M Bunyamin (MB), Head of Jati Sari Mulyadi alias Bayong (MY), and Head of the Bekasi City Public Housing and Settlement Areas Jumhana Lutfi (JL). The compensation includes the acquisition of school land in Rawalumbu sub-district worth IDR 21.8 billion, Polder 202 land worth IDR 25.8 billion, and Polder Air Kranji land worth IDR 21.8 billion. Furthermore, other compensation is in the form of continuing the project for the construction of a joint technical building worth Rp. 15 billion. For these projects, Rahmat Effendi is suspected of setting the location on private land and intervening by directly selecting the private parties whose land will be used for the project. He also allegedly asked them not to terminate the work contract. As a form of commitment, Rahmat Effendi was then allegedly asked for a sum of money from the party whose land was compensated by the Bekasi City Government in the name of a mosque donation. The money was handed over through intermediaries of trusted people, namely Jumhana Lutfi and Wahyudin. Not only that, Rahmat Effendi was also suspected of receiving some money from several Bekasi City Government employees as cuts related to the positions he held. The money was allegedly used for Rahmat Effendi's operations which were managed by Mulyadi. There was also corruption related to project management and contract labor within the Bekasi City Government, where Rahmat Effendi was suspected of receiving Rp. 30 million from Ali Amril through M. Bunyamin. has also named Rahmat Effendi as a suspect in a case of alleged money laundering (TPPU). The KPK suspects that the suspect, Rahmat Effendi, spent, concealed, or disguised the origin of his wealth which was allegedly obtained from the proceeds of corruption.
