Jakarta Deputy Governor Denies Provincial Government Giving T-shirts With "Anies President" Written On Them For Free Homecoming Participants

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria denied that the DKI Provincial Government gave T-shirts that read "Anies President" to the participants of the free homecoming of the DKI Provincial Government at the Pulo Gebang Terminal.

"Obviously not (given by the DKI Provincial Government). The Provincial Government has never practiced practical politics," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, April 28.

Riza also emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government's free homecoming program was not related to political elements. After all, according to Riza, only one or two people wore T-shirts that read "Anies President".

"The free homecoming activity has been carried out in previous years. This activity is to help Jakarta residents who return home to ease the burden, as well as regulate traffic to reduce congestion by preparing buses, not via private vehicles," he explained.

Separately, the Head of the Road Transportation Division of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service (Dishub) Yayat Sudrajat also emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government did not facilitate the provision of the T-shirts for free homecoming participants at the Pulo Gebang Terminal.

"By Allah, I never knew anything and never facilitated the existence of the T-shirt. That's why I was also confused," said Yayat when contacted.

Regarding the distribution of packages to travelers carried out by Anies at the Pulo Gebang Terminal, Yayat explained that the contents of the package were health equipment such as hand sanitizers, masks, and wet wipes.

"What is distributed to the homecomers, as far as I know from PMI, is in the form of a tool kit for health. That's all I know. There is no distribution of t-shirts," said Yayat.

Previously, PSI highlighted the circulation of the use of "Anies President" T-shirts for free homecoming participants. Secretary of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, William Aditya Sarana, saw that this should not happen because this event is an activity funded by the Regional Budget.

"This event is clearly the APBD, public money. It is not very good if there is an alleged interest in the political ambitions of Mr. Governor Anies. Do not let this free homecoming funded by state money be politicized for your own benefit." said William.
