MEDAN - A woman in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra, with the initials HH (36) has to deal with the police. The housewife was desperate to steal gold worth Rp60 million by pretending to buy Eid cakes.

The Head of Public Relations of the Tebing Tinggi Police, AKP Agus Arianto, said that the theft by the perpetrators occurred on Monday, April 18 at a soto shop owned by the victim named Betti (52), in Rambung Village.

"Furthermore, the suspect said he wanted to order the victim's Eid bread and the suspect gave the bread for Rp. 50,000. Next, the suspect gave Rp. 100,000," said AKP Agus, Thursday, April 28.

While serving the perpetrator, the victim happened to be holding a bag containing a number of jewelry. However, due to lack of money to return it to the perpetrator, the victim went into his room to take the money.

"Then 1 piece of 15 gram gold necklace, a gold bracelet weighing 9 grams and Rp 375 thousand in cash," he continued.

The victim reported this incident to the Tebing Tinggi Police. The police then conducted an investigation.

Then on April 25, the police found a post on a Facebook account named Rozali that contained a large amount of gold sales.

The police then investigated and arrested Rozali. The man is suspected of being a collector of stolen goods from suspect HH.

"Rozali was arrested Monday, April 25 at around 16.00 WIB in Lima Laras Village, Nibung Angus District, Batubara Regency," he said.

To the police, Rozali said that he bought gold from suspect HH. Furthermore, the police hunted for HH and arrested the perpetrator in his rented apartment in Karya Jaya Village, Rambutan District, Tebing Tinggi City.

When he was arrested, HH did not move and confessed all his actions to the police. To account for their actions, the two perpetrators are now being held at the Tebing Tinggi Police Station.

"Now the suspect is being held at the High Police for further questioning, he is suspected of under Article 362 of the Criminal Code," said AKP Agus.
