Minister Of Transportation Suggests Even Odds At Gadog Peak: On May 2 The Plates Are Even, May 3 Is Odd, To Reduce Density

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi visited the Integrated Service Post for the Puncak Tourism Route at the Gadog intersection, Bogor, Thursday, and reviewed the readiness to handle traffic congestion during the homecoming period and the 2022 Eid holiday.

"Come here to see the preparations because later on D-1 or the day after Eid will be crowded. I am happy that my friends here have prepared well, the equipment is complete, and all you have to do is carry out the operation consistently," said Budi Karya here. Bogor, Thursday 28 April.

He mentioned four traffic engineering strategies that will be implemented to deal with traffic congestion, namely the regulation of three-axis vehicles, contra flow, one-way roads, and the implementation of odd-even.

The Minister of Transportation proposed that odd-even on May 2 for vehicles with even plates, then change to odd-even dates. He said this effort could reduce the potential for traffic congestion to reach Puncak.

"I recommend it to my friends on the first day because the 2nd is even, the 3rd is odd, so that it can be reduced," he added, launching Antara.

He said that there needs to be wider socialization and publication so that the public is aware of the four techniques, so that travelers can pay attention and obey them when traveling through the Gadog intersection and the Puncak area.

"The peak is always in the news, traffic jams and traffic jams. In fact, if we carry out these four engineering projects, God willing, it won't crash," he said.

He appreciated the Bogor Resort Police for providing an alternative route for travelers to follow in order to comply with applicable regulations.

"Let's say the first day is even, if you want to go home, you can go through Jonggol or via Sukabumi, so there's no reason for them to be stuck. The road is there and relatively not jammed," he explained.

During the review, Budi also checked a number of facilities provided by the Bogor Police at the Integrated Service Post, including lactation rooms, rest rooms, and free vaccination booths.

In addition, he visited the Traffic Management Center room with a number of screens displaying the latest data related to the volume of vehicles at the Gadog intersection arterial route and direct monitoring through the CCTV camera network at various points.

Budi Karya conveyed President Joko Widodo's message to officers and the public to properly maintain activities during the homecoming and Eid holidays, considering that these activities could not be carried out in the last two years.
