JAKARTA - The police asked travelers not to stop on the shoulder of the toll road to avoid traffic jams during the 2022 homecoming period.

"We urge people who pass the toll road not to stop at the shoulder of the road unless it is an emergency," said Head of the Operations Section (Kabagops) of the National Police Korlantas Kombes Eddy Djunaedi in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, April 28.

If people want to rest, they can go directly to the nearest rest area or exit to the arterial road and then re-enter the toll road.

“The travelers must also prepare their physical condition and make sure they are in good health. Then also the condition of the vehicle must be ready to use and roadworthy, "he said.

Finally, Eddy asked the public to continue to obey the traffic rules and the instructions of the officers in the field. This is done so that the 2022 homecoming runs smoothly, safely and comfortably.

"We also ask travelers to always obey traffic rules. Then also put safety first," he said.

The police predict that the peak of the 2022 homecoming flow will begin on Thursday (28/4) and will end on Sunday (1/5). The density of traffic flow during the homecoming period is one of the concerns of the government and the police given the enthusiasm of the community to go home after 2 years of facing restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
