MADIUN - Members of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Madiun City, East Java, raided two houses selling liquor for violating local regulations.

Gamal Arfan Afandi, the Head of Security, Public Order, and Community Protection for Madiun City Police and Fire Department, said the two houses were located on Cendrawasih Street, Nambangan Lor Village and Towiryan Street, Mojorejo Village.

"It was followed up immediately and submitted to the Satpol PP Regional Regulation Enforcement Division, then processed, then followed up according to the procedure," said Gamal Arfan Afandi, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 22.

Gamal said his party confiscated 109 bottles of various brands of liquor, one jerry can, and dozens of bottles of jowo (arjo) arak.

The monitoring of the two houses, he said, had been going on for a long time. However, because the owner was still violating the rules, the officers took action.

Gamal emphasized that similar operations would continue to be held every night in the month of Ramadan 1443 Hijri in order to create security and public order.

It is hoped that such incidents will not recur and become the attention of other business actors.

"We hope that in this holy month of Ramadan, people will be more calm in carrying out their fasting worship," he said.
