PAPUA - The Director of Criminal Investigation of the Papua Police, Kombes Faizal Ramadani, admitted that the clashes between two community groups in Mamberamo Raya Regency, Papua had been handled by the local police.

According to Faizal, in the clashes there were no casualties from the two groups and they have been handled by members of the police on duty.

"The security situation has returned to being conducive, but members are still on guard around areas that are considered vulnerable," said Kombes Faizal in Jayapura, Antara, Friday, April 22.

He explained that from the reports he received, the clashes started as a result of a demonstration carried out by honorary staff from the Mamberamo Raya Regency Government demanding the payment of honoraria.

The demonstration was carried out with impromptu at the Mamberamo Raya Regency Bappeda Office located in Burmeso.

Not long after, a group of residents who did not accept the demonstration and impoverishment immediately attacked using arrows and spears, resulting in an attack on each other.

As a result, members of the Mamberamo Raya Police were forced to fire warning shots, and after an approach, the two groups did not attack each other and returned to their respective homes.
