JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Regional Police arrested TY (44) as a suspect in a criminal case of abuse of transportation and trading of subsidized fuel oil using a modified car tank.

Director of the Ditreskrimsus Polda DIY Kombes Pol Roberto Gomgom Manorang Pasaribu, explained that TY's actions were revealed when filling up bio-diesel fuel at a gas station in Mlati District, Sleman Regency on Sunday, April 17 yesterday at 05.30 WIB.

"This mode is actually a mode that very often occurs where the perpetrators modify vehicles," said Roberto, Monday, April 19, quoted from Antara.

TY modified the car's tank so that its size becomes larger so that it can accommodate more volume of fuel. The tank is also modified by planting an aquarium pump and is given power from the car and then sucked into the jerry cans that have been prepared in it.

After being obtained illegally, according to him, subsidized fuel is stored in the suspect's warehouse to be sold to a number of industry players.

When arrested, the police confiscated diesel fuel with a volume of up to 495 liters from TY's car.

In the suspect's warehouse, the police confiscated four red and white metal drums, one modified iron tank with a capacity of 300 liters, a modified iron tank with a capacity of 70 liters, and ten empty jerry cans.

The suspect, according to him, collects subsidized diesel fuel to be sold to industry players with disparities or price differences that are far above the subsidized price.

According to him, as a comparison, the price of subsidized diesel is IDR 5,100 per liter, while non-subsidized diesel is IDR 14,000 per liter.

"These suspects sell at Rp. 7,000 to Rp. 8,000 per liter, so the average profit is Rp. 2,500 or Rp. 3,000 per liter," he said.

In addition to arresting TY, the Ditreskrimsus Polda DIY also arrested another suspected fuel abuser with the initials AD (39).

According to him, AD is known to fill diesel fuel into jerry cans placed in a car at a gas station in Godean District, Sleman.

After the inspection, the perpetrator's car contained one jerrycan filled with bio-diesel, 5 jerry cans filled with pertalite, and 11 empty jerry cans.

According to him, the suspects were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation in conjunction with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas with a penalty of 6 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion.
