BANDUNG - Floods that inundated the South Bandung area, precisely in Dayeuhkolot District, Bandung Regency, West Java, cut off access to the main highway which is public access.

Head of the Emergency Section of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Hadi Rahmat, in Bandung, Tuesday, April 19, said that the intensity of rain in the Greater Bandung area has been quite high since April 15, 2022, causing the Citarum River to overflow into residential areas.

"There are four sub-districts that are affected by floods in Bandung Regency," he said as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, on Jalan Raya Dayeuhkolot, right after the Citarum River bridge, the flood appeared to flood the road as high as an adult's knee.

From the starting point after the bridge, the flood inundated the front of the Dayeuhkolot Grand Mosque, or about 100 meters.

Local residents in the area warn motorists if the flood at that point is deep and prone to vehicles.

However, it appears that only certain types of cars and trucks can cross the flood. Meanwhile, motorbikes were unable to pass through this route and chose to find another alternative route.

Meanwhile, other people forced themselves to walk to cross the flood. In addition, there are also residents who use a wagon to get through puddles of water.

As a result of the flood, the Bojongsoang Canal Road, which is an alternative route to Baleendah or Banjaran, experienced a long traffic jam.

So far, he said, the BPBD team is still conducting assessments related to the flood incident. It has also evacuated a number of residents affected by the flood.

"The West Java BPBD is also still coordinating with the Bandung Regency BPBD," said Hadi Rahmat.
