MUI Rate Of TV Program Impressions During Ramadan Experiences Improvement, Agree?

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) assesses that program broadcasts on 19 television stations (TV) have improved until the second week of Ramadan, compared to last year which received a number of highlights/notes.

"There has been an increase in the quality of broadcast products during Ramadan 2022," said the Head of the MUI Television Impression Monitoring Team, Tantan Hermansyah in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, April 18.

Tantan said that the monitoring of the television program involved 32 observers. The nineteen television stations are ANTV, Badar TV, Global TV, Indosiar, Inews TV, Inspira TV, Kompas TV, Mentari TV, Metro-TV, MNC TV, Net TV, Nusantara-TV, RCTI, RTV, SCTV, Trans-TV. , Trans7, TVOne, and TVRI.

According to him, the increase in the quality of impressions can be seen in the fewer indications of violations contained in the broadcasts when compared to previous years.

This year, he said, MUI monitors found many programs on TV stations that deserve appreciation, in line with efforts to maintain the sanctity of Ramadan.

"Among these programs are Gaspoll Sahur, Tanya Buya Yahya (Metro TV), Islam Is Beautiful (Trans TV), Muslim Travelers, (NetTV), Serambi Islami Ramadhan, (TVRI), Time for Sahur, (Kompas TV), My Family is My Heaven. , (Indosiar), and the soap opera Amanah Wali and I am not a Ustadz (RCTI)," he said.

In addition, there is the light of Ramadan (MNCTV), Mutiara Hati (SCTV), Coffee Ramadan, The Beauty of Ramadan with UAS & FRIENDS (TVOne), Saba Masjid (Inspira) Missing the Sound of Adhan (GlobalTV), Ramadan Recitation, and Islamic Lantern (BadarTV) which is appreciated.

Even so, said Tantan, there are also many reality broadcasts of Ramadan programs that still indicate violations and/or inappropriateness, especially in three cases, namely scenes of physical and verbal violence, sensuality tendencies, and problems of ethical propriety and shari'a worthiness.

MUI then conveyed a number of recommendations for broadcasting institutions, such as immediately fixing broadcast contents that contained indications of violations or inappropriateness.

"Some things have to be fixed for the last 15 days of Ramadan and also maybe Ramadan in the years to come," he said.

Another recommendation, many Ramadan comedy programs are trapped in the slapstic genre (rough jokes), and situational improvisation should be evaluated optimally. Dialogue that demeans the co-stars, ridicules, and demeans must be corrected so that it doesn't happen again.

Then his party also recommended collaboration between broadcasting institutions and MUI in evaluating the quality of special broadcast products for Ramadan.

"Ramadan broadcasts should not fall into the aggressive, offensive, slapstick genre and indulge in sensuality," he said.
