Kalikangkung Semarang Toll Gate Ready To Face The Surge Of Homecoming 2022

SEMARANG - PT Jasamarga Semarang Batang, the manager of the Semarang-Batang Toll Road, has ensured that the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang, Central Java, is ready to face a surge in travelers during the homecoming and return of Lebaran 2022.

President Director of PT Jasamarga Semarang, Batang Prajudi, while leading the task force for the readiness of the 2022 Eid homecoming and return flow in Semarang, Monday, said the surge in vehicles entering Central Java would occur after the last two years there was no homecoming flow.

"Kalikangkung is a point that will be of concern because there is the potential for long queues," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 18.

According to him, of the approximately 85 million people who will go home for Lebaran this year, around 70 percent will be spread across Java.

To anticipate the spike, he continued, the government has prepared a scenario for the application of one-way or one-way traffic from the west that will enter Semarang as well as rules for odd-even license plates for vehicles that are allowed to pass on toll roads.

The implementation of one-way and odd-even traffic flows is planned to start on April 28 to May 1, 2022. As for the return flow from May 6 to 9, 2022.

To expedite the flow of vehicles, he added, payment transactions at the Palimanan toll gate will also be canceled during the homecoming and return flow.

"At the Palimanan gate, they will be released, even though that point is a valve in Kalikangkung. The flow of vehicles is expected to arrive at Kalikangkung faster," he said.

Therefore, according to Prajudi, as many as 21 toll booths at the Kalikangkung gate will be fully opened during the implementation of one way.

"If it is deemed insufficient, a mobile reader will be added to speed up transactions," he said.

In addition, he asked all toll road officials not to stutter in the face of the one-way scenario during the back and forth flow. He also ensures that all toll road supporting facilities and infrastructure are ready to serve the community.

The peak of the Lebaran homecoming flow at the Kalikangkung toll gate, he said, is expected to occur on April 28 and 29, 2022.

"About 60 thousand vehicles per day are estimated to pass on that date," he said.
