SOLOK - The Solok City Government and the West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) set up a tent as a joint post for protecting Sumatran tiger wildlife at Gallery 88, North Ring Road Km 2, Solok City, West Sumatra.

Deputy Mayor of Solok Ramadhani Kirana Putra in Solok, Wednesday, April 13, received a group of the West Sumatra BKSDA team in order to follow up on the issue of tigers that had entered the settlement and caused a stir in the residents of Kampung Jawa Village since the last few days.

"We appeal to residents, especially those in Kampung Jawa Nan Balimo Village, not to approach the tiger traps that have been made because tigers are very sensitive to human odors and will not approach the trap," Ramadhani said, quoted by Antara.

Thus the posts and traps made will only be in vain. For this reason, he invites residents to cooperate so that the tiger can be immediately secured and released into its habitat. People are comfortable again, he said.

Meanwhile, the Village Head of Kampung Jawa Mukhrizon said that there were reports from local residents about the discovery of animal footprints that were suspected to be a Sumatran tiger.

"The incident was discovered on Wednesday, April 6, so it shocked the local residents," he said.

He hoped that the tiger that had been troubling the residents for the past few days would soon be caught in a trap. So that people can return to live safely without being haunted by fear.

The head of the West Sumatra BKSDA, Ardi Andono, confirmed that the traces of wild animals found by residents of Kampung Jawa Village, Solok City were the footprints of a tiger.

"The tiger has been indicated by a camera belonging to the BKSDA. It is estimated that the tiger is still a teenager to adult female," he said.

He appealed to residents not to panic and not to leave the house alone when after sunset until the morning and must be together or in groups.

In addition, local residents are also asked to illuminate their homes starting from the outside to the inside of the house. This is to prevent tigers from hiding in people's homes.

"Get used to using sounds in the form of firecrackers and other sounds so that the tigers don't want to come near. Also, avoid foods that smell like raw meat so that the tigers don't get close," he said.
