Basarnas Evacuates 29 Passengers On The Ship Engine Off In South Buton

KENDARI - The Kendari Basarnas evacuated 29 ship passengers who experienced engine failure in Siompu Waters, South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aris Sofingi said his party received the information from the Baubau Marine and Coastal Guard Unit (KPLP), which reported the ship had an engine failure in Siompu waters.

"At 17.00 WITA we received information from Al Amin, a staff of the Baubau KPLP who reported that at 14.00 WITA there had been an accident aboard a 'longboat' GT 7 experienced an engine failure around Siompu Waters, South Buton," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 13.

Based on the report, at 17:20 WITA, the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team was dispatched using a rubber boat to the location of the ship's presence to provide SAR assistance.

"At 18.03 WITA, the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team found the longboat and 29 passengers safe," he said.

The ship was found about 1.43 nautical miles north-northeast of the ship's last whereabouts. After being found, at 18.30 WITA all the victims were successfully evacuated to Tanjung Masiri, Batauga District, South Buton.

Basarnas noted that the 29 passengers included La Ode Herman (29) who was the captain of the ship, La Andi (22), Hendi (34), La Pila (21), La Budi (40), Aris (20) all five were GT 7 crew members. .

While 23 other people were passengers on the ship, namely Mulyati (52), La Muhma (58), Andi Wanti (28), Nina (23), Heni (32), Alfati (4), Razia (2), Susi (20), Sinar (10), Alizia (9), Putri (7), Wa Ode russian (58), Wa Mida (60), Wa Ode Firna (7), Wa Dema (40), Yani (33), Nur Hikma (12 ), Tri Febriani (8), Riski Ahmad (12), Bilal (33), Acik (30), La Ode Harimana (50), and Willi (23).

The GT 7 ship departed from Batu Atas District, South Buton Regency at 09.00 WITA for Baubau City, but at 14.00 WITA the ship experienced an engine failure around Siompu Waters, South Buton.

"With the discovery of the ship and 29 passengers in a safe condition, the search and rescue operation is declared complete and closed," said Aris Sofingi.
